Leland Is A Fallen Hero
Leland was sadly killed during the caravan along the “Siegfried Line” on November 20, 1944. According to autopsy, his wristwatch was cracked and both his left and right radius were fractured along with his left ulna. It can be assumed that he died in combat or due to a crash of some sorts.
Leland’s body was found and transferred to the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery in Belgium, Germany. His flag was also sent home to his father in Shuqualak in early March, 1948. He still resides at the beautiful cemetery at Plot E, Row 3, Grave 2.
